Minot Area Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting - Water Treatment Plant Flood Wall Project - August 11, 2017

Ambassadors along with Minot Mayor Chuck Barney, U.S. Senator John Hoeven and Congressman Kevin Cramer cut the ribbon at the Water Treatment Plant this morning. This ceremony marks the end of a two-year construction project that now protects the treatment plant from future floods (similar to that experienced in 2011).

SVR was the ready mix supplier for this two year project.  Our General Manager, Sue Stewart, proudly represented our firm at the ribbon cutting ceremony!

The flood walls had specialized forms that the concrete was placed into and once stripped, the brick pattern was visible.  After the walls were completed, the concrete was stained a brick color, to make them aesthetically appealing for the neighborhood and passerby's.

NDRM & CPA 3RD ANNUAL DRIVER'S CHALLENGE - JUNE 10, 2017 - BISMARCK, ND

This is the third year for the event at the ND State Capital Building NW Parking Lot, to which we sent three participants....Wes Voigt (last year's 1st place winner), Jacob Kempf and Derek Brown.  Another fun time with obstacle course challenges and the timed tests of a vehicle inspection, concrete delivery ticket test and the written exam.  Following the exam, a free lunch of burgers and brats was served by the Woodhouse Grill, while everyone anxiously awaited the results.

Can we say "Trifecta" or "Hat Trick" or "3-Peat"?  Yes, we can!!

As a first time participant, Jacob Kempf came in at an impressive 3rd place and once again, Wes Voigt took the 1st place honors!!  All of us at Souris Valley Ready Mix are so proud of our driver's and their accomplishments!!  1st Place winner all 3 years of the competition and well earned bragging rights!!

This year, Wes will travel to Dallas, TX in September to compete in the NRMCA National Mixer Driver's Challenge, proudly representing SVR and all of ND.  We wish him well on his return to Nationals!!

NDRM & CPA 2ND ANNUAL DRIVER'S CHALLENGE - JUNE 11, 2016 - BISMARCK, ND

The stage was set at the West Parking Lot of the ND State Capital Building in Bismarck for the 2nd Annual ND Mixer Driver Challenge, sponsored by the North Dakota Ready Mix and Concrete Products Association.  The event was held on Saturday, June 11th with 26 ready mix truck drivers from across the state representing their Ready Mix Companies proudly!   The challenge includes an obstacle course of sorts with 10 challenges to test driving skills, a timed 50 question written exam, checking a sabotaged ready mix truck for 15 fails for DOT compliance and finally spotting 12 errors on a concrete delivery ticket, all within in a time limit.

SVR sent three driver's to this year's event and we are proud to say two of those driver's placed in the top three of the competition.

Randy Christopher (Last year's 1st place winner) took 3rd place this year and Wes Voigt took the 1st place honors!

As the Champion, Wes will now go on to represent ND and SVR at the National Ready Mix Concrete Association Mixer Driver Challenge to be held in Nashville, TN on September 18-20, 2016.

NRMCA NATIONAL DRIVER'S CHALLENGE - SAN ANTONIO, TX - SEPTEMBER 20-23, 2015

Randy Christopher, the first place winner at the 1st Annual NDRM & CPA's Driver's Challenge, along with his wife Debbie and our General Manager, Sue Stewart attended the NRMCA National Driver's Challenge in San Antonio, TX.  What an experience for our driver, the 1st to ever represent ND at this event.  Randy did very well in all the challenges, but had to patiently wait for results to be announced at the awards banquet.  Although he did not place in the driving competition, Randy did win two very special awards, receiving 1st place for finding the most mistakes on a delivery ticket in 90 seconds and 1st on the written exam!!  He was announced at the "Smartest Driver"!!  Congratulations Randy on a job well done!!

NDRM & CPA 1ST ANNUAL DRIVER'S CHALLENGE - BISMARCK, ND - JUNE 11, 2015

SVR is very proud to be participating in the 1st ever Driver's Challenge for North Dakota, sponsored by the NDRM & CPA.  The winner of the challenge has the privilege of competing at the National Driver's Challenge in September, to be held in San Antonio, TX.  SVR sent two drivers to the event, Terry Morin and Randy Christopher.  

The competition involves several driving challenges in their ready mix trucks, spotting problems on a ready mix truck that would make the vehicle fail a DOT inspection, finding errors on a concrete delivery ticket and a written exam, all to be done in a limited time frame.

We are proud to announce that Randy Christopher took the 1st place honors and is on his way to San Antonio!  Congratulations!!

Sue Stewart, General Manager of Souris Valley Ready Mix, was recently elected 2014 President of the North Dakota Ready Mix and Concrete Products Association at their 48th Annual Banquet and Tech Day.  She had served as Secretary/Treasurer in 2013.

During the presentation of awards in Excellence in Concrete, two projects we supplied concrete to in 2013 were presented awards, one Gold Star Award and one Silver Star Award!
